Mahindra Bolero Facelift launch soon in Indian market with budget price

Mahindra Bolero Facelift : The Mahindra Bolero is widely known as one of the most solid and tough cars in India.

Durable construction, simple engineering and utility value have helped the Bolero to develop a dedicated fan base in rural and semi-urban India.

Now, Mahindra is all set to launch the Bolero facelift – the updated iteration of its old warhorse, which has been retouched to feel a little more contemporary and fresh, while retaining its age-old character.

The refreshed Bolero is due to be introduced soon and will have a couple of cosmetic updates and added safety aids and a few creature comforts but will be consistent with the tough, value-for-money and utilitarian design philosophy of its predecessor.

Exterior Styling: A Touch Modern, With a Little Bit of Throwback Toughness

The Bolero facelift will not completely alter the SUV’s rough-and-tough appeal, but the design will be more polished and modern, according to Mahindra.

Look for subtle changes to the front grille, headlamps and the design of the bumper. LED daytime running lamps are available on upper trims, which help give the vehicle a more contemporary looking face.

That high position, the boxy shape is still there, which is one of the reasons the Bolero has never really lost its unique presence on the road.

Steel wheels are expected to come as standard on entry-level models, with the optional wheels made out of aluminium alloy in the more luxurious trims.

New colour schemes and refreshed body decals could be part of the package to give the Bolero a new look without really taking it far from its basic appeal.

Inside: Utility Over Comfort, With a Few Comfort Incremental Improvements

On the inside, the Bolero facelift will stick to its basic cabin layout but Mahindra is likely to offer mild additions to make the setup slightly more comfortable.

The dashboard may receive an updated finish, better quality plastics and maybe an all-new digital instrument cluster.

It will be lighter on premium gadgets such as touchscreens or wireless charging, however, although the facelifted version should come with upgraded upholstery, better air conditioning and useful storage areas.

Higher trims likely will get power windows, central locking, USB ports and a basic audio system.

The objective is clear: Give you a simple to maintain interior that has just enough comfort for daily driving.

Performance and Engine

Under the bonnet, the Bolero facelift is expected to share the same 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine, which churns out about 75 bhp 210 Nm of peak torque.

This engine is popular due to its fuel efficient, high low-end torque, and low maintenance characteristics, all of which have contributed to Bolero succeeding in smaller towns and challenging terrains.

It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Though not meant to set any land speed records, the power plant is more than sufficient for dealing with potholes, bearing loads, and working in adverse conditions.

Look for NVH levels (noise, vibration and harshness) to be reduced, which will bring a touch of refinement to the whole experience.

Mahindra Bolero Facelift

Pros

Strong Build Quality

Fit for rough use From its inception, the Bolero has always been a rugged machine, perfect for Indian country roads and diamensions to carry loads.

Proven Diesel Engine

The 1.5 litre engine is renowned for being a very robust unit and is very frugal on the juice and cheap to service.

Affordable Price

Even with the upgrades, Mahindra wants to ensure that the pricing stays competitive to make the vehicle a high-value proposal in its market.

Widespread Service Network

The easy availability of spares and service centres even in the hinterlands is what adds to the practicality of the Bolero.

Simplicity and Reliability

Less electronics translates into less opportunity for errors, so it’s suitable for heavy use.

Cons

Basic Interiors

No modern infotainment, climate control or premium materials could be a letdown for city slickers.

Limited Safety Tech

It will get dual airbags, ABS and parking sensors, but don’t keep hopes high for sophisticated safety features.

Bouncy Ride Quality

The ladder-frame arrangement makes for a pretty stiff ride, and can be a little bumpy at speed on undulating surfaces.

No Petrol or Automatic Option

It’s diesel only and the stickshift is mandatory, however, which could restrict its desirability for some buyers.

Not Ideal for City Buyers

Its overall size and handling, together with old-school design, might not suit individuals looking for urban comfort and polish.

Mahindra Bolero Facelift Final Verdict

The soon to be launched Mahindra Bolero facelift, retains all the strengths that a typical Bolero buyer values: rugged looks, solid performance, and great value; and tweaks the package just enough to meet the requirements of today’s buyers. It’s not reaching for something it’s not. Instead, Mahindra is re-freshening the Bolero focusing on its core customer, but not pricing him out.

For @dailyO_India Infact, for rural India buyer, small business owner, fleet operator or anyone who wants a dependable go anywhere utility vehicle, the Bolero facelift is still a great option.
